Wu Xiao Fan

I first saw the work of 午小飯 (Wu Xiao Fan) about a month or so ago, and at the time I remember being really taken by his subject matter, very often scenes of domestic lives, or of simple, private moments. Looking at many of the pho­to­graphs again now, I’m struck not only by his choice of subject matter, but also by the sense of detach­ment he brings to it; a sense, strange as it sounds, of being distant — on either a visual, or emo­tional, or physical level — from the action, while being intimate - also on either a visual, or emo­tional, or physical level - with the actors.
