Chernobyl

A photograph from an essay about Chernobyl by Elena

The photograph above is from ‘Ghost Town’, a photo essay by Elena (she doesn’t reveal her last name) that I first saw a few years ago and was reminded of this morning while listening to a pair of really interesting documentaries on Chernobyl. If you’re interested in Chernobyl, both the radio documentaries and the photo essay are well worth a listen and a look, respectively.

There is quite a lot of photography from Chernobyl on Flickr. The two photographs below are from this excellent set by blinkofaneye:

A photograph by Phil Coomes of a town near the Chernobyl power station

A photograph by Phil Coomes of an idle ferris wheel in the abandoned town of Pripyat near Chernobyl

There is also this excellent set of black and white photographs by Jeremy Nicholl.

Thanks to John Goldsmith for the Flickr links.
